The artist plunged into the two hundred year old Faïencerie heritage, and came up with a story:
• tulips – an emblematic Gien pattern found in the company archives;
• heraldry : a symbol of Gien’s renown throughout the nineteenth century, which has here been restated in a completely new light ;
• polka dots, reminiscent of the Pont Aux Choux grain of rice theme, enhance the design and lend a touch of softness ;
• richly coloured links bring an element of strength and their hand-painted effect is a reference to the unparalleled skills of Gien craftsmen. These links symbolise the transmission of know-how and continuity, the enduring mark of Gien throughout the ages.
